Terrill Bruere
Dietitian
Terrill is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with a wealth of experience including both in eating disorders and women's health, particularly polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Her practice is based on a longterm, deep understanding and commitment to the weight neutral or Health At Every Size approach to nutrition and to enhancing people's relationship with their eating and their body.
Terrill has worked in many community and specialist settings and has been in private practice for over 15 years. She is happy to see people with a range of nutritional concerns that include general family nutrition, diabetes and heart disease or gastrointestinal concerns.
Clients will experience a more respectful and less prescriptive approach to allow them to develop their own style of more sustainable living with food, body and health. This can include learning the skills of more intuitive eating from a mindful approach.
Terrill sees people (and their carers) with a range of mental health concerns. She has worked in both public and private eating disorder services in Melbourne and with both adults and adolescents so has an extensive professional network and understanding of treatment choices. She sees people of any age or gender for all eating disorder concerns and works as part of multidisciplinary teams that may involve your GP, mental health professionals or other services.
Terrill also worked at both Jean Hailes For Womens Health and the Royal Women’s Hospital. She was one of the first to promote a whole health and lifestyle approach to treatment of PCOS, fertility and hormonal concerns throughout a woman’s lifecycle. She continues to pass this knowledge on to other health professionals so all women can have a better experience of diagnosis and treatment.
Importantly Terrill enjoys influencing the development of ideas and services that are built on a respectful, client centered approach with a solid scientific evidence base. She has further training in counselling that include Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and has the privilege of supervising and training other dietitians in this work and frequently being requested for workshops and public speaking.
Terrill understands life balance and in her own life uses a mindful approach to balancing work life with creative arts and family life, while sustaining her passion for this work with people.
